NEWS, PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE March 2012

Well folks, here we are again, the start of another year in which to excel. I hope that you are taking care of those New Year’s resolutions. I will not torture you this year with one of those beach photos as the weather in Missouri and Kansas has been much milder than the past two winters and you just do not need to see all of that sand and surf. While the warmer weather is great I hope that we do not get one of those late winter freezes that does great damage to all of the plants that get an early jump due to the warmer temperatures. I just hope my lawn is not out of control by the time I get home.
2012 rallys. As we manage to do each year we have an active year planned for this season. If you remember we have changed our hosting policy so that one couple is not burdened with the responsibility for the entire weekend. Hopefully, you will remember what you signed up for. If not, your busy wagon master, Carol Genrich, can refresh your memory. So, do not be surprised when your name pops up on a rally flyer responsible for some aspect of that rally. For each rally one couple has the overall responsibility for organizing the rally; deciding on a theme, dealing with the park, receiving the member registrations, etc. If you have any questions contact the wagon master, Carol Genrich 417-583-2070. We are going to some familiar parks, one new park and two we have been to only once.
One change for this year is for the Cook’s June rally in Council Groves, KS. Wayne was unable to get reservations at Canning Creek Cove but was able to reserve eight sites at Richey Cove which is in the same complex. If you have not spoken for one of those eight sites never fear there should be more available. Just contact Wayne for the latest information (316-204-4844).
In regards to Richey Cove, I received some bad news that the Nashs will not be able to attend that rally. It seems that they are going to be in Paris, France during that time for their 50th wedding anniversary (maybe-Ed.). Where did you go for your 50th wedding anniversary? Their actual date is in November but which would you pick, Paris in June or November? Yes, me to.
Also, you may remember last October the Nashs were having some issues with their new coach. After the rally they went to Elkhart, Indiana and got those issues resolved. They also visited the Gulf Stream headquarters in Nappanee,  Indiana and joined that club.
It seems that one of those impromptu chapter meeting took place in Texas. The  Couchs, Cooks, Drennons, Mathes’ and Phyliss Anderson and her fiancée got together for lunch at the Golden Corral in Mercedes, Texas on January 21. Yes, there is more behind the story about Phyliss and the new ring. I also got some photos from Wayne showing Wayne but not Carol. I hope he didn’t leave her in Mexico.
Dolores Mathes asked me to inform everyone that she has a new email address:
If you will remember Gary Sidebottom did not make it to the Six State or October rallys due to knee problems. Well, I have been informed that Gary has had his knee surgery and is well into the recovery phase. I do not think he will be doing a jig but at least he can walk without pain.
Six State. When we volunteered to be one of the host chapters for the 2011 Six State rally the hope was that there would be enough “profit” from the rally that the host chapters would benefit. In January I received a check for $139 from Charlie Adcock as our part of those monies. Maybe not as much as some might have expected, but better than nothing.
FMCA Family Reunion. This year the now annual FMCA rally is in Indianapolis, August 27-30. They are using the state fairgrounds so everything should be within easy walking distance. Indianapolis is a great city with many attractions including the Speedway and its museum. You might notice we do not have a rally in August so members can attend this rally.
Rally. Please read the flyer by clicking on the Rally Flyer link at the top left of the page and get your reservations in to Lucille. I would like to see each of you at this rally. Do not let the price of fuel get you down. Come and share in the camaraderie of the chapter.
